Warts in dogs

Immunocompromised dogs have a higher risk of developing warts, which are caused by a viral infection. The disease also commonly affects young dogs.

Warts, also called papillomas, are generally harmless and may disappear on their own.

Dog warts are only contagious between them. Your dog cannot pass his warts on to you or other animals.

Here are some tips for preventing and treating wart problems:

  • For prevention, avoid contact with young dogs affected by warts , and isolate your animal affected by warts until the problem is resolved.
  • locally: In 250ml of water add 10 drops of TEA TREE essential oil (found in most pharmacies): spray the dog's coat and “sleeping area”.
